The name says it all – TriSTAR! This exciting motorcycle rally gets its name from its one-of-a-kind location in the charming mountain town of Sparta, North Carolina. Nestled just off the legendary Blue Ridge Parkway, Sparta sits right where North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee come together – giving riders the incredible opportunity to experience the beauty, roads, and culture of all three states in a single ride. How cool is that?
With a population of just around 2,000, Sparta may be small, but it packs a surprising punch when it comes to personality and things to do. Whether you’re looking to kick back with a cold one at the local brewery, grab a bite at a cozy café, or stroll through the shops and galleries in its walkable downtown, you’ll find plenty of ways to unwind when you’re not in the saddle. The town’s welcoming vibe and friendly locals make it a perfect home base for a weekend full of riding and relaxing.
But let’s be honest – riding is the star of the show here. From the moment you pull out of the parking lot of our host hotel, the Alleghany Inn, you’re just a mile away from twisty roads that seem to go on forever. Whether you’re craving scenic overlooks, technical curves, or just some peaceful two-lane cruising, the surrounding region delivers in every way.
Must-ride routes include the jaw-dropping Back of the Dragon between Marion, VA, and Tazewell, VA – a route that’s become a bucket-list favorite for motorcyclists nationwide. You’ll also have easy access to multiple entry points to the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as the stunning vistas of Burkes Garden, VA. Looking for even more excitement? Head over to Shady Valley, the gateway to the twisty beast known as The Snake.
And for those who like their tires a little dirty, we’ve got you covered too. Thanks to the efforts of the rally team, there will be GPS tracks available for three fantastic ADV (Adventure) routes. Whether you’re tearing up gravel, exploring forest roads, or forging your own path, the area is a dream come true for ADV riders.
TriSTAR 2025 is shaping up to be better than ever and this year, it’s a full-on rally experience with some awesome new additions! We’ve got a covered outdoor lounge area where you can hang out, swap stories, and chill with fellow riders. Need a lift to the local restaurants? We’ve got a free shuttle service running on Thursday. Friday night, we’re firing up the grill for burgers and hot dogs at the hotel, and Saturday night brings a catered dinner plus live music from the always fun and local, Skyline Highway.
